Apparently the world per se viewed them as their enemy as the UN took it upon themselves to impose 12 years of sanctions against them...which some say cost as many as a million Iraqi lives...though a true number will never be known.
Yours and others "beloved UN" did this to those poor innocent Iraqi's. Since the coalition invaded Iraq the US convinced the UN to remove the sanctions...but it did take some convincing by the US.
