can't beleive you actually think the 1ds is too slow for shooting people... ive shot it (a good friend owns one, a pro photographer) in his studio, shooting people and never had a problem w/ buffers filling on me
also shot the eos 1d, frikking amazing camera... its what im hoping to pick up (used) if i can get a decent price for my 10d... as the 20d doesnt offer me much of anything as far as an upgrade to the 10d
as for the 1ds mkII... im not sure how well its going to be received, especially coming out so soon after the 1ds was released.
its at the point now where many pro's who would possibly by the 1ds mkII are just buying digital backs for their exisiting MF camera's - as the resolutions are the same or better w/ much larger files to work with
phaseone has the h22 out now, a 22mp digital back and rumors of the h30, a 30mp digital back have been floating around for some time now
we had a discussion on
www.iPhotoForum.com about the 1ds mkII - seems there are some mixed feelings on it - some like the push for technical gear to be developed faster and faster, as it drives down the prices of the older gear for quick sales, and some don't see the point.
my friend who shoots the 1ds (has previously owned d30, d60, 1d, currently owns a pair of eos 1v's and a few mf cameras including pentax67) said he really has no plans to upgrade to the newer model. something that kind of shocked me because whent he d60, 1d and 1ds came out, he owned them all within the first 4 weeks of being released. he said that he's been doing 20x30 and 24x36 prints on various mediums (including stretched canvas) for some time off the 1ds and has been MORE then impressed with it.
