Stuff becomes worthless with time. Be it cassette tapes, vhs tapes, or a car. You got the use when you wanted it, and if shit happens to it or you want an upgrade or better version you buy it, not steal it. The car companies have gotten enough out of me too, but I am not gunna go to a ford car lot and steal a car when my old one gets in a crash.

The analogy fails because when files are shared, the original is unaffected. The owner retains the original, unlike with a stolen car.
