Actually, you're right. The net began off the old military ARPANET infrastructure in the 60's...designed to survive a nuke strike by being decentralized using packet switching.

Although the Net I'm referring to is the modern post 96 http-dependent/graphic oriented net, even the www / http protocol was invented earlier than 10 years ago... 1989 by Tim Berners-Lee ... so yeah, I'm mistaken ...the net did exist. It just wasn't popular.

Back then I was still fucking around with WWIV BBS software using a 2 node line from the ole frat house relaying rave info.
