Foreman was never shot. He lost against Ali, beat Ron Lyle in a slugfest then lost to light-hitting Jimmy Ellis. It was a mental thing with him, not a physical thing like it is with RJJ.

Foreman lost a decision to Jimmy Young in 1977, not Ellis. He then saw Jesus in his dressing room and retired for a decade.
After losing to Ali and beating Lyle, he also beat a guy by the name of Joe Frazier in 5 short rounds. Not quite the brutal beating he gave him to win the title a few years earlier, but it clearly showed that he still had gas left in the tank. Foreman's problem was fighting ourdoors under 100 degree heat and high humidity. If you could avoid his bombs for 6-7 rounds, he'd be a sitting duck. He wasn't quite as powerful during his comeback, but he was a much smarter fighter.
