Could be I'm wrong. Let's investigate further:

BILL C-15A: AN ACT TO AMEND THE CRIMINAL CODE AND TO AMEND OTHER ACTS

Another new provision prohibits anyone from accessing child pornography on the Internet. This offence is punishable by up to five years imprisonment. The accessing offence does not criminalize someone who inadvertently views child pornography on the Internet since the amendment requires the person to have knowledge that there is child pornography on the site and a specific intention to access this material.

Could you please point out to me where it says researchers are exempt from the category of "anyone"?

So are you willing to admit that you have been accessing cihld pornography on the Internet? Actually, you already have admitted it. You've also admitted it was your specific intention to access this material.

You are guilty of a Crime in Canada under this act.
