I actually had faith in you until I read this post. I work in the movie industry. I love film. And no one has made reference yet to the fact that "Cruel Intentions" was a super pathetic attmpt at a remake of one of my favorite films, "Dangerous Liasons"
I can't tell you how many, no talent, slack ass, dumbshit, young wannabe diretors/producers that say, "Citizen Cane was the best movie of the 20th century" I have met in this industry.
And, (I agree with you) I bet, none of them have ever seen it. I admit it. I have never seen it, so I can't honestly say if it's the best film of the 20th century. Without having seen every film of the 20th century, I doubt anyone can say what was the best film.
I know that I've tried to sit through it twice, and both times I fell asleep. I just know that when these idiots come to our shop they want to sound like they know film. I can tell that if they did see "Citizen Kane," it was in their film class, that they just barely graduated from.
You can critique film all you want but it all comes down to the mighty dollar. I've worked in it long enough to know that it's every man for himself. You want to see what I consider the best film ever made? Go rent, "Swimming With Sharks" I have seen stuff like that happen. People being yelled at by producers, and the producers just walk away laughing.
The biggest losers of all are the fuckin' Weinstein brothers. Their execs are basically personal secretaries. They have their fresh out of college execs (idiots) fetching coffee, and they give them "vice president" titles.
It's all about money.
Like those fuckers at "Mouse-wich" (Auschwich aka Disney Studios) Why do you think they release a movie like, "Monsters Inc.", then when the hype dies down, they re-release it with extra outtakes at the end.
Wait, I'm getting carried away...
All I'm saying is you spout off that these idiots have no idea what film is and they like shit films, and then you come in here saying what every film student here in LA is saying, "Citizen Kane was the best film of the 20th century". They say that during the first year after they saw it. They talk about it with all their friends and how they can make a better film, all the while they're writing a film about 4 college buddies, that come out to "Hollywood" to write a movie about 4 college buddies making it big in Hollywood. Losers.
