I've had an interest in what happens after death for a long time and have researched it quite a bit.
The conclusion I've come to is no, consciousness is not a function of our brain. It is a function of our soul. However, while connected to a physical body, the consciousness becomes tied into the physical sensations therein.
Its much easier to explain the vast depth and abilities of our minds if you look at it with this broader perspective.
Memory is one of the clues that leads me to believe its not actually stored within the physical body, but offsite in the realms and dimensions where souls operate. Just look at a human brain. I can't accept from a visual analysis standpoint that all of our knowledge, reasoning, memory, creativity, etc. can all be coming just from that blob. No way.
