I ask them to give me their best deal period. I emailed approximately 40 different dealerships in 3 different states on my last 2 purchases (bought them both at the same time). The best price was about $100 less per car and was in Tennessee and a dealership 30 miles away was the next best. I took the next best for convenience
Could I have haggled and saved a few extra? I doubt but even if I could, it wasn't worth the time for me. I had watched what these cars were selling for by talking to people who actually bought them at edmunds.com so I know I got a good deal that was fair to me and the salesperson got a decent comission. We were both happy
