Yes they can-
A few years ago my male shepherd mix caught one. His dick swelled up enormously. My vet diagnosed it as a canine STD and gave him some antibiotics which cleared it up right away.
I still suspect the Afghan down the street. Or maybe it was a slut I dragged home one night.
