The only way that worked was crate training. Basicaly the dog was with me 24/7 and when she couldn't be I would lock her in her crate. When I would let her out I'd bring her straight to her potty part of the yard. She'd poop and I'd praise her and give her a treat.

Now here's the interesting part.... after many months of this I got to the point where I could let her out of her crate and say "go to the bathroom" and she would run over to her area and go. So I knew she understood. But the problem was that when I left her alone she would still go in the wrong spot. It was very aggrivating because Siberian Huskeys are super intelligent yet super super stuborn as well.

I could basically just look at her and say "go to the bathroom" and she would run out and go to her area. She's super smart like that. Plus I did a great job with praise & treats. But she wasn't completely full proof trained yet...

So this one time when I let her out of her crate she didn't go to the bathroom....but 10 minutes later when I wasn't looking she went in the wrong spot... Now after months of crate training and knowing damn well the dog understood where to go, I was super super pissed seeing her crap in the wrong spot again. It was a nice house with a pool so I didn't like poop right next to it. So now I'm pissed, I pick her up by her neck, scream at the top of my lungs at her, walk over to her crap area and toss her into it (it was a giant dirt patch so she wasn't hurt)....but it was a few feet I through her. She had a HUGE area that I cleared off just for her to crap in...so she basically had a giant part of the yard just for that.

Well that did it and must of scared the crap out of her cause she never pooped in the wrong spot again. From then on I could leave her alone in the yard or house and she would only go in her "batheroom area".

Now before anyone goes off on me... It was a soft dirt area I threw her on, she didn't get hurt and I did feel bad... but it worked.

That's my story on how I originaly trained my dog...not saying it's the perfect way or the way others should do it, just that's how I did it.
Great info, you guys should all get together and write a book.
