My first question is, do you currently have experience with firearms? Like military or having used them often. Below are my answers.
YES I have Experience - Buy either a moderatly priced 9MM or 22 to practice with and practice often on it's firing, cleaning, and assembly.
NO I have no experience - You SHOULD not buy a gun until you take a firearms safety course. It will do 2 things, first it will give you an idea of what kind of firearm you'd like to own. Secondly, it will also show you how to operate it without killing yourself or more importantly someone else by accident.
