Well with CJ2s or TGPs/ fake TGPs with SE traffic you can try it and I'm about to do that.I also tried the single pic post concept in niche areas and was really happy about the success.
The only thing is that hosted galleries are much easier to use than having to make your own tgp2 galleries all the time.
