You can legally own automatic weapons if you have a Class 3 firearms license.
The Assault Weapons ban banned the manufacture and importation of new guns falling with a certain number of features. All it really means is you pay $1000+ for a preban gun. The assault weapons ban actually helped a lot of people who already owned them by making their collections more valuable.
I dont want to live in a country were everyone has to carryaround a gun; I also don't want to live in a country where only the police and soldiers carry them. Enough said.
