A thought on this topic:
Online sales of adult content have been going on for close to 10 years (more like 9). That fact made this fact interesting to me:
In 1919, 10 years after the invention of the automobile, there were 108 auto manufacturers in the USA. Today, almost 100 years later, there are 2.5 in the USA (considering half of Chrysler is owned by Mercedes). Competition is just as strong in the US, between US manufacturers selling to consumers wanting or needing a US made automobile.
IMHO, competition will stay strong in this industry too, as long as there is more than one IPSP. I can?t guarantee it 100%, but almost, that there will be at least 2 of us left.
Another interesting fact is that even though we have had to reduce sales to chase ratios from the card associations, our costs in every single area have increased; there are fewer of us in the market, yet prices for processing have gone DOWN over the past few years.
Regardless of the number, even if there is only 1, your best, cheapest and surest option is using an IPSP. It is not hype; it is a proven fact that IPSP?s give you more money to your bottom line and the time you need to do what you do best; market your sites and traffic.
So use all of us, be set up everywhere, be prepared to move if you want or need to move processing. But don?t be mislead that fewer competitors make for less competition.
And an important point: Jettis did not ?go away?. They are very much around and involved in the ACH processing area and as consultants to EPOCH / Paycom. Jettis made a business decision to sell to Paycom; they were not forced to do anything.
