You block most people who would never buy your content anyway. Sure, you might piss some potential buyers off but you make your real customers feel special by "allowing" then to visit yours site.
Of course anyone with 2 brain cells can still visit your site but your goal is still accomplished.
Not a bad marketing ploy. The part where you feel you need to announce to the entire world that you have blocked some people is where you become transparent.
I actually think you are on to something here because most people would never think of what your real motive is.
