what is the difference between insulting fat people and insulting smokers? to many people (doctors, scientists, average johnnys) they are both unhealthy (documented life-threatening), unattractive lifestyle choices people frequently do not have the will-power to overcome. the only added difficulty to obesity is that it is more akin to telling a smoker they have to smoke 1 cigarette, but not 2 or 3 or more, every day, as a person has to eat some food, but not too much, every day. anyone making fun of smokers is generally looked at as watching out for other peoples' health. why is it different when the topic is fat?
