Where else can you develop a character from scratch and feed the masses a bunch of shit to get involved in?
It's the best audience participation sport that I can think of and it requires little to no financial investment while at the same time it has the potential to earn the better players thousands of bucks a month.
Just like any other sport...Some of you play the game well and some of you seriously suck ass at it.
If you were not aware that you were in the game to begin with then it's fair to say that you are not a very good player. 
I suck as basketball but I can play a mean game of GFY.
