One suggestion, while in your car keep the pistol visible and make sure you have your permit handy. Here in oregon I found out how the paint on my trunk looks at a very close up view. I got pulled over for bad lane change and the police had it on file that I had a concealed weapons permit, they did not see it when they approached the car so they rpoceeded to slam me on the trunk and search the car, it was under the seat. After playing bad asses they finally let me go with a traffic warning and a lecture about pistols.
You have a Concealed Handgun License in Oregon and you give this advice? Did you even pay attention in the class? According to Oregon law, if the weapon is visable at any time, it is considered "brandishing a weapon" and you can and will lose your license and your gun for it.

Oregon Law requires you to have your Drivers License and Handgun License ready for the officer when he gets to your window. You are to inform him that you are carrying and tell him where the weapon is. If your gun had been visable, that makes it easier to reach and you most likely would have been pulled out at gunpoint.

Bad advice my friend.
