Low carb is sort of a misnomer, and many of the diets, especially Atkins, over simplifies things. Carbs = bad, is an incredible oversimplification.

Really all you need to do is change the kinds of carbs you eat. Removing bleached flour, refined sugar, corn syrup and fried foods is enough of a change to make a world of difference.
