Sorry to vear the topic, but I've always scratched my head about this one...

How are people, that have been deaf their entire life, comprehend words? Since they have never heard a sound in their life how do the letters make any sense? Maybe they can pick everything up easily through pictures with the words describing them, but it still seems like it would be a tough concept for them to grasp.

Also, in their minds what noises are there? I know I "think in English", but since they've never been able to hear a language, what goes on up there?

I'm dumbfounded.
