You mentioned the biggest link lists yourself. There are no other link lists that comes even close to 1000+ hits a day. The rest of the link lists sends around 0-50 hits a day.
Actually the only one that can send 1000+ is tommys-bookmarks, but that's also half a tgp, so the traffic quality is lower.
The idea with doing the link lists though isn't to make just one site. Make a new site each day and submit it. You should easily be able to get 100 hits. Then think about having 100 of such sites, that is 10000 hits a day. Not much compared to tgp traffic, but this is better quality traffic and you'll see a higher click through ration to your sponsor because you can have more advertisement on freesites.
Then you can of course also start playing with search engines and toplists with your freesite and get more quality traffic.
