Actually if it did come down to a civil suit and they came back here to look at what was going on it would not work out in your favor.
If you do feel there is something that poses a threat to you, you now have ample time to get a restrainting order that will keep you safe, then if he crosses the line you have every right to pursue legal action and also defend yourself.
