It's only self defense if he hits you first. What he made was a threat and the proper way for you to defend yourself is to call the police and let them handle it. If you see him and hit him then he has every right to sue you. Just so you know

well Lee, trust me I am well versed in these sort of affairs LOL , and
the law is for self defense, that a person only has to percieve that they are in danger, and since I was threatened, ( and I am a lover not a fighter ) that makes me think that when I see pimple pussy I should be very afraid, as he is going to cause me bodily damage, therefore my perception gives me the right to defend myself, as long as I do not use means other than equal measure in order to subdue.... but of course this means I knock him out on the first shot, or he retaliates and it then becomes mutual combat, wich is only a misdemeanor in most states ( definatly in nevada) and gues what that looks like a win w/ win for me, as a civil suit will be moot on either accont....
