Well.... after that news that microsoft is aiming to double their patent portfolio in the next 12 months, can you imagine how many patents the rest of the world will register in that time?
MSFT sets the pace for a lot of companies and is very influential over alot of peoples business models.
If they are going to file 5000+ new patents, you can bet that there are going to be TONS of people doing the same in that course of time.
It's been going on since Clinton and them pushed software patents though.... but now that MSFT is planning to double their portfolio - it's like "officially" on now.
This is either going to end real messy... or the EFF and crew will get some serious patent reform going on.
I don't think the net (as we know it anyway) will be able to survive all the crazy lawsuits that are on the horizon.
