I have only spanked once, when I really lost my temper with my son. I slapped him once on the leg. I felt terrible.
It is not ok to cause physical pain to get someone to do what you want. It is not ok to hurt someone just because you're bigger and stronger. That's not what I want to teach my kids.
My parents never physically disciplined me and I was a very good kid, did not get into trouble.
