Cooledit 2000 will convert your formats without renaming anything, just load the song and save it to mp3, you'll probably want to get CDex (freeware) to get the music direct to mp3 from your CD's (artists will probably deliver your scores in a CD)
also, instead of finding a local band, just go to the internet music community (you can start at the tracker forums at madtracker.com and modplug.com)
I'm telling you this because these people know their stuff, they can deliver you the music already done, at post production stage, and they have the gear to sound like a band, and sometimes better than that... and they are desperately looking for jobs, including porn scores
