Well MOST of the counters will provide you with this stats and there you'll find that the 800x600 vs. 1025x768 is aprox. 50/50... People get new computers with 15 inchers also and they just don't know any better than that preset 800x600.

Whatever you build, do it for 800x600 in mind. Anything less than that they'll just have to live with the fact they are so dumb that they can't set their screen to a bigger resolution. Anything bigger than 1024x768 is a personal choice and one will easily deal with the website.
