We bought a CD about a year ago at one of the local music store (it was a chain, but I don't remember which one because they're closed now and I'd only been there once) and they asked me if I wanted a free subscription to Entertainment Weekly. I was like, yeah sure, as long as it's really free. They assured me it was and I read all the fine print and there was nothing in it about being charged at any point in time.
Well a couple of weeks later they charged my CC for a yearly subscription even though I never filled out any CC information on the subscription card they gave me, only my name and address! I was FUMING mad.
I guess the store used the information from my purchase to give Entertainment Weekly my information. That has to be illegal! I got a refund but I was still sooooo mad.
