Organizational Issues: Can an old dog learn new tricks?

I know a lot of people here suffer the same thing...but here's the thing...I have tried so hard to organize myself...but to no avail.

I've read books...etc..etc..but I just can't fucking get it.

IT's like my brain is not wired that way.

For example if I have bills sitting on my desk and I need to go through them and organize them my brain almost tells me NO. Not because they shouldn't be, but I'm not really working unless I'm spending 99.9% of my time doing actual work.

It's as if keeping my desk organized is not "real work," something I can justify.

So in the end I clean up my desk, and within hours it looks worse than before.

It's not just a desk issue, it's a whole lifestyle issue. I could buy a new set of drawers and establish what drawer will hold what..but before it's over with I'm shoving everything in the drawers because once again it's time taking away from actual work..but in the end I'm beginning to think that it's more detrimental to avoid such things and to "work" than it is to spend time keeping organized and leaving myself room to breathe and think more clearly.

So can an old dog learn new tricks?

Any suggestions...any clutter people out there able to get past that?
