Dogpile is a META search engine. It doesn't spider itself.
Hotbot utilizes Inktomi and some other databases.
DMOZ is a directory. Although it doesn't eliminate the fact that you should submit to it.
From my experience, Goode brings me most SE traffic. I know that SE-optimization gurus get a lot of traffic from other SEs, but Google is the most popular these days. And the easiest to get high positions in for an amateur.
