These "3rd string" players should STILL be better than who they're playing against.
They're all a bunch of primadonnas who firstly, don't know how to play together a a team (typical "new generation" NBA player mentality: ME FIRST!), and secondly, obviously don't have any heart or pride in playing for their country, cause if they did, they put their own selfishness aside, lose the "we play in the NBA, you should let us win", attitude and start playing like it means something...obviously, they aren't.
They'll lose, and that's the way it should be. Gold should go to a team/country that actually wants it.

They're still good but like you said they don't know how to play as a team. Another problem is that they don't have enough of what they need. They don't exactly need the best available as much as they need the best available at each position. (No outside shooters, no good defenders, etc.)
