Absolutely correct Steve... radar detectors can be a good tool, when people know how to use & interpret them properly. In town, is generally the best place, because there's alot of traffic around, and it'll pick it up while clocking someone else, if it's wide enough. This is only good for the ones like motorcycle cops use though, that are the "always on" type... the instant on is the killer though.
Also, in and around cities, there are alot of false alarms. Microwaves (not ovens) and warehouse alarm systems are just a few things that can trigger a radar detector.
Out on the freeways, they're good when, again, plenty of other traffic around... if it's just you cruising and the trooper's got an instant on... nothing will save you.
