value? eye of the beholder. i've let trash drop and seen it go for $500 - $1000+ at drop site. it hurts like hell. at the same time whenever I see their domain. re: PR, you are always at Google's mercy, but I've heard the same thing ranging from 3-12 months or blacklisted domains that drop. so, bottom line is if you are buying expired domains for their traffic/PR do hardcore research first. if the name is for development or resale... one man's trash, another man's treasure.
ask that question to other SEOs or at seo chat and you'll get lots of mis-info/mis-direction.
