It tries to analyse the conflict between globalisation/capitalism and cultural/religious fanaticism. It got a great review by the NY Times, but it's full of factual errors and the argumentation is rather feeble.
It's written by Benjamin R. Barber, a professor in politicology and a former advisor to Bill Clinton... it kinda shocks me that someone like that can write a bunch of crap such as this.
