People die every day, some before their time. It's always sad, especially for the family. But in this case, the man lived 76 years, which is pretty good, and from what I know of him, he enjoyed his life. that's what really matters in the end.
When a person dies after having lived a long and fruitful life, it is sad, but we usually celebrate their life. When someone dies before their time, it is much more difficult to find comfort.
In 1990, I went to the viewing of a friend who shot himself in the head at the age of 19 because his girlfriend dumped him (STUPID REASON). The thing that sticks in my mind the most was how swollen and red the skin under his mother's eyes was from constant crying. I have never seen skin that irritated before. She was barely alive herself. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to go though. I just couldn't bring myself to go to the funeral the next day.
