One thing that's important to keep in mind is that where ever you go online- the internet is still the internet. There was a thread about this last week, I'm pretty confident most of us in the dating industry do our best to weed out the fakes and sales reps- etc- but take this message board for example- how many people on here have multiple aliases and post under fake names, etc.
We do the validation feature- where members can send in a copy of their state issued photo ID and we update their profile to reflect that the pics posted are fair and accurate depictions of the account holder. Other sites I'm sure have their own methods. I would always be suspicious of a member who says "email me at.." right away- most members don't give out their personal email address until they've chatted with someone etc. You just have to use common sense.
I know for a fact people do hook up on adult dating sites like ours because our customer service department is flooded with the aftermath- the break ups. If something goes wrong on a date people get crazy- they are always trying to get eachother banned, etc.
