your info is visible in Whois is one reason why I wouldn't use namecheap.
I don't need unexpected visits from "looney tunes"
the first and second things I look for is hide the Whois and Lock the domain so it is harder to steal.

Last I checked namecheap had a free whois guard with every domain purchased. So if that is still in affect , your whois information would not be public.
