They ONLY did it because of years of intense international pressure, UN pressure and sanctions... it was not done willingly or for the good of the people. They faught tooth and nail to keep the status quo and lost. Don't make it sound like white people were there doing blacks a lot of favors and were really kind to finally start treating them like human beings.
