It is an evolution of online journaling. Time based, usually reverse chrono. Link heavy. Plus uses technologies like blogrolling. Basically a home page simplified with easy to use, web-based software. (blogger.com, MT, manilla, etc.)

out of that the only new thing i picked up is blogrolling. "Time based, usually reverse chrono. Link heavy" is a given, or i would think it was because that is how our site news has been for years.
"BlogRolling is a one-stop linklist manager for your blog or journal, helping you manage your ever-evolving linklist with ease."
which appears to do what the blog button in the google tool bar does.
"You'll never have to interrupt your surfing to add a cool new site to your linklist - just add the BlogRolling 1-click link to your browser's links and click it whenever a site catches your eye. Voila, instant linkage!"
so basically it copy and pastes the link for you? wow, lol, i've got to be missing something. You can also set what group of people see what link lists, groups are cool feature, display only what you want, ok also cool but not new.

I think I'm starting to see the differences with all the feature add ons.
