Hmmm how do you figure that america never actually "participated" in the 1970's-1980's Afganistan war. trained and armed soldiers yes, american troops fighting no.
and yes the Northern Alliance may be partially controlled by Russia but you must admit we are not talking about the same Russia. Clearly you must be missing the point the alternate government the U.S. will be able to control unlike the replacement government shortly after the Soviet rule. True the reason that government came into place is because America left them with nothing, but also brings me to another point why must America be the savior of all the other countries? shouldn't that be a U.N. problem, the U.S. may infact be the security force but why do we have to shell out all the money for "nation building" missions aswell?
Thanks for the oil rant, but thats nowhere near my concern. wether or not you believe this "war for oil" shit is true is totally up to you, i don't think it's oil that any president is concerned about when thinking of war, honestly it purely production as a whole not just more oil.
Think about this, you have funding for a war, honestly it's a governments way of putting more trust in the economy. you need more weapons, transportation, food, and general man-power to make this war posible.
you see oil may be one resource out of many but certainly not the most important one!
