Actually, your playing it all wrong.
Go out to dinner or wherever, and when those girls come to talk once shes left, make SURE they know she is a good friend of yours.
Then, MAKE SURE they sit there and talk until she comes back. You see, they are interested because they think you have something hot girls want, and now the hot girl will become more interested because your getting attention in public. Talk with her for about a minute, make sure you say something about the number and leave it at that.
THEN PUT ALL OF YOUR ATTENTION BACK ON THE HOT FRIEND.
