The best place i have ever been to in my life, would have to be Spain. Torredembarra. It's a little city inbetween Barcelona and Tarragona. I was only 12 when i went, but i would go there again in a heartbeat. It's not touristy for americans really, but for Germans.
It would help if you spoke spanish too
