And what's with the emphasis of having to tell his parents? he's a gay, it's not like he got some chick pregnant.
I've never understood the urgency of gay people to tell everyone that they're gay. there's no need, you're a homo, big deal! It's nice that he told you, being your brother, but honestly, why would you wait until you're 20 years old to tell your parents something that in their mind may or may not be terribly depressing?
Unless he's planning on living with mom and dad until he's 40, I say, go out, have fun, get a good job, meet someone, introduce them to your parents and let them figure it out by themselfs.
It's a much easier transition then to choose an awkward moment and say "MOM, DAD, I'M A GOD DAMN HOMOSEXUAL!"
