yeah, they just take all your money instead of your life. It's still a TRIAL determining guilt or innocense (with a much lower threshold of proof than a criminal court) and it can fuck up your life. Once you've been tried and found innocent, that's IT. That was the intention of the double jeopardy law. You can't go on trying and trying someone until you get the verdict you want. The state gets ONE SHOT to prosecute you.
