Fine, I have NO problem with that IF it shows a pattern and is relevant.
But the rape shield laws prevented (prior to this case) the defense from bringing up things that may have shows that SHE was someone with a history of lying or serious mental problems. Her past mental problems MAY BE relevant as well.
There needs to be a balance and this case may have helped.
Unfortunately, you're right in that alot of REAL rape victims (I'm not saying she WASN'T a real rape victim, I haven't heard any real evidence), won't come forward as easily as before.
Also, in rape cases, the laws are usually so slanted towards the prosecution that it's more a case of the defendent having to prove HIS innocence. That's not the way the legal system is supposed to work.
