Whenever this gets discussed amongst myself/my wife and a group of Americans (usually in a bar when I'm not complaining about the lack of real beer), they claim we are lying.
"Americans aren't that stupid" they cry, "we all know we speak the same language, and that English comes from England"
So me and my wife then start using made up words in conversations with our American friends. The look on their faces as they pretend to understand what we're saying is hilarious...
