Did they fail? then try this. This will work for sure. When i had the 'about:blank' i tried it and it worked.

1]Click Start -> Run -> type regedit.exe -> press enter.
2]Delete anything under 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Browser Helper Objects\

dont delete Browser Helper Objects! delete anything under it.
