The reason we picked the charities we did was simply becasue of the work they do. I understand that a lot of chrities and non-profits are scams and tax shelters, but not all are. Doctors without Borders has especially had a bad go of it lately...they had 5 killed last month in Afghanistan, and will be pulling out shortly. Which is where they need to be.
And donating for tax breaks? Kind of a non-issue at this level...if we are seeking tax breaks on a $400 donation, then we must be running our business very poorly.
