i guess you want to do it your own way, others have different ways, the way it sounds like your doing is taking some time right? "superbot" has a program that you can download your galleries easy, thats if your planning on doing it that way!
if not, like everyone else is sharing, shh to root then open a telnet and from there ftp to your host that you want to pull the content from. Between networks is faster than downloading and uploading..
